Afriscope publishes monographs, conference proceedings, and accessible books that treat African and Global South thought as the starting point, not the supplement. Every title is free to read.

Any researcher, academic, or writer whose work engages meaningfully with African or Global South knowledge, experience, or methodology. We welcome submissions from scholars at all career stages and from any country.

Monographs

Single author scholarly books, double blind peer reviewed, 9 to 12 months from acceptance to publication. Free in 2026. R50,000 per year publication fee from 2027, waivers available.

Conference Proceedings

Edited volumes produced in partnership with conference hosts and academic associations. Funding agreed per partnership, not a fixed fee.

Trade Books

Shorter, accessible books carrying serious ideas to a general readership. Free for early career researchers, within five years of PhD.

Afriscope walks with you from when you are preparing to publish (Author Services) as well as running your publications (Journal Management).

We will work with you to develop individualised care plans, including management of chronic diseases. If we cannot assist, we can provide referrals or advice about the type of practitioner you require. We treat all enquiries sensitively and in the strictest confidence.

What is Afriscope Publishers?

Afriscope is an open access press dedicated to African and Global South scholarship. We publish monographs, conference proceedings, and trade books that treat African and Global South thought as the starting point, not the supplement.

Any researcher, academic, or writer whose work engages meaningfully with African or Global South knowledge, experience, or methodology. We welcome submissions from scholars at all career stages and from any country.

Contact us through our submissions page with a proposal or full manuscript. We will respond within 10 working days to confirm whether your work falls within our publishing scope.

Monographs go through a double-blind peer review process. We target 9 to 12 months from acceptance to publication. Conference proceedings are reviewed in partnership with the relevant conference hosts and associations.
